Since our founding in 2015, Sahiyo has been the recipient of numerous recognitions and honors both collectively as an organization, and individually as team members of the organization.

Joanne Golden, Sahiyo Inaugural Governing Board member, received the SAM’s Fund for Public Service Prize, donating the funds to support Sahiyo.
Mariya Taher was selected as a finalist for the 2026 SCI Rising Idealist Award, which recognizes emerging leaders for their commitment to social change and community impact.

Voices to End FGM/C Alum Ibtisam’s Voices digital story was selected to be screened at the Trauma-Informed Film Festival in Leeds, UK
Mariya Taher was selected as a finalist for the Exceptional Women of Peace - Pathways to Peace Award and designated a Woman of Distinction

Mariya Taher received the 2024 Champion of Change Award from Asian Women's Shelter, and Amy Hill founder of Silence Speaks Storytelling, received the Lisa C. Bruch Woman of the Year award from the Global Women Peace Foundation

Mariya Taher received the Global Woman Award for her policy work to end FGM/C and was recognized as a 2023 L'Oréal Paris USA Women of Worth honoree

Sahiyo was awarded a winner (1 of 3) in the ViiV Healthcare #EndFGM Positive Action Challenge. The #ENDFGM Positive Action Challenge supports innovative interventions to bring about a sustained change in attitudes and social norms towards ending FGC

Sahiyo co-founder Aarefa Johari and independent writer-activist Aysha Mahmood won the Laadli Media and Advertising Award for Gender Sensitivity, 2018 for their investigation revealing the prevalence of FGC in Kerala
Sahiyo recognized by Population Reference Bureau as one of six inspiring organizations working on ending FGM/C in 2018
